Trojans were determined to push the Achaeans back to the ships. The Achaeans just sat thee dissapointed when Diomedes declares that he will not give up and he will stand up and fight til the end. He tries his best to pick them back up and remind them that Troy's fate is not to win. All because of this Agamemnon offers Achilles a bunch of gift if he got back up and fought on the Achaeans line. This is when Achilles is found playing the lyre in the hut with Patroclus. Achilles is proposed with the offering of the gift but rejects it right away. He then annnounces that he is going to go back to his homeland and live a long and happy life. Pheonix begs him to stay and not to leave.
